CircumSpice Spring 1998 p.6

Welcome to our Adjunct Faculty

Early in the spring semester, the library hired five new adjuncts to serve in Cohen’s Reference Division and in the Science/Engineering Library. They were hired to partially make up for two recent retirements. Below are brief biographies of the new hires.

Sarah Aponte
Sarah, who recently completed her Library Science degree at Queens College, is no stranger to the Cohen Library. She served as an intern at both the Circulation and reference desks during the fall semester. As well as working part-time at the reference desk, Sarah holds a full-time position as Administrative Assistant in the Dominican Studies Institute, where she has developed a small independent library. Sarah serves at the reference desk on Monday and Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Jung Cho
Jung is also a recent graduate of the Queens College Library Science program. As well as working at the reference desk, she continues to hold her full-time position in the library Acquisitions Division, where she is responsible for several financial management tasks and for maintaining the library’s serials subscription files. Jung’s hours in reference are 1:00pm to 3:00pm Mondays and Wednesdays.

Robert Laurich
Robert has been a librarian at Hunter College since 1992, and for the past two years has been Head of the School of Social Work Library. He has been active both professionally and as a scholar, with several publications and professional society memberships. Robert ordinarily works on Thursday evenings from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, and is part of the Saturday and Sunday rotation.

Alexei Oulanov
Alexei is our third recent graduate, coming to us from the Palmer School of Library and Information Science of Long Island University. He holds another adjunct position at the Queensborough Community College Library. Alexei serves us in two capacities, working at the reference desk from 1:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursdays, and working in Government Documents on Friday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm as Professor Guy Westmoreland’s assistant.

Elaine Snow
With more than seven years experience as the only librarian for Hazen & Sawyer Environmental Engineers and Scientists, Ms. Snow comes to City College well prepared to serve as a reference librarian in the Science/Engineering Library. At that large firm she provided library service, including extensive online searching to over 500 patrons. She also held librarian positions at the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, the New York Public Library, and Bristol-Myers. Ms. Snow is a CCNY alum and obtained her Master of Library Science degree from Pratt Institute.
