Special Screening

Arguing the World traces the lives and careers of four eminent New York thinkers — Irving Howe, Daniel Bell, Nathan Glazer, and Irving Kristol — all of whom attended CCNY in the 1930s.

National Library Week Program Lecture

Gail Kern Paster, Shakespeare scholar from George Washington University, will lecture on "Hamlet, the Passions, and the Early Modern Body." Professor Paster, while continuing to teach Shakespeare to undergraduates at George Washington University, assumed the position of editor of Shakespeare Quarterly in January. Shakespeare Quarterly, founded in 1950 by the Folger Shakespeare Library, is considered the top journal in Shakespeare studies in the world. Professor Paster is the author of two books, The Idea of the City in the Age of Shakespeare and The Body Embarrassed; Drama and the Disciplines of Shame in Early Modern England, as well as scores of articles and papers presented at professional meetings, and is a trustee of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
